In the upper Himalayas, an ancient Tibetan monastery follows a secret Zen tradition. Newly ordained monks perform their daily rituals of chanting, meditation, cooking and cleaning and in the evening paint colorful patterns on the floor (Rangoli in India) using dry powder paint.

Initially they draw basic patterns and then graduate to complex designs. In the second year of their stay, they are inducted into a very sacred ritual. The Master priest gives each monk an extremely intricate and complicated design to replicate as their Rangoli. This pattern is so complex that it takes 5 years of part time work in the evening to complete. The monks are made to vow to keep their pattern secret and not show their work in progress to anyone. Their reward for this mammoth effort is to have their complete painting examined by the head Sensei (Priest) of the monastery. If the divine Sensei is pleased, he can bless the monk.

After 5 long years of working on one painting, the examination day arrives and the monks tremble with trepidation as they take their master and Sensei to their room for the final review. The Sensei wears heavy robes, with the long overflowing sleeves that reach the ground. Just as the painting is being shown, the Sensei calls out to the monk, looks him in the eye, and in one strong, swift motion, wipes clean the painting with his robe’s sleeves without even looking at it. The act is sudden, swift and brutal – executed with a benevolent smile.

It is said that the act of seeing 5 years of your hard labor being wiped out in a stroke creates a moment of ‘blankness’ in the minds of the well-trained monks, and that blankness produces nirvana (enlightenment). If not immediately ‘enlightened’, the monks begin weeping with joy at the realization that nothing lasts forever and everything must go.

Losing something very precious makes them gain something even more valuable.

If you have lost something - however painful that experience might have been, you will benefit in the long run.

Struggling with ending processes in WINDOWS?

When we buy a new laptop,we keep on loading it with new softwares irrespective of the fact whether we want to use it or not.In a week or so,the new lappie cant bear it anymore and it slows down.Then we open our so called Task Manager to see what is consuming what??

Any chat agents like Gtalk,MSN,Yahoo or Skype should be removed from the list of processes.

They consume a lot of memory usage even when you are not using them.

Here is an image of a normal Windows Task Manager of a "Virus-Free PC" :P
Let us look at the processes whose Memory Usage is relatively high. These processes are namely BTStackServer, BTtray, csrss, dwm, explorer, GrooveMonitor , mcagent, rundll32, safari, SiteAdv, TaskEng, TaskMgr.
Out of these some files should be removed or i should say can be removed in order to increase system performance. While others if removed will show you a BOD(Blue Screen Of Death).
And I am sure you dont want to see that screen on your new laptop.

In the screenshot above,some essential processes are there. However we can remove some of the processes which are consuming more memory.

Let us look at some of these processes.

csrss.exe

The Microsoft Client Server Runtime Server subsystem utilizes the process csrss.exe for managing the majority of the graphical instruction sets under the Microsoft Windows operating system. As such Csrss.exe provides the critical functions of the operating system, and its termination can result in the Blue Screen of Death being displayed.

Csrss.exe controls threading and Win32 console window features. Threading is where the application splits itself into multiple simultaneous running tasks. Threads supported by csrss.exe are different from processes in that threads are commonly contained within the process, with various threads sharing resources within the same process. The Win32 console is the plain text window in the Windows API system (programs can use the console without the need for image display).

In mobile devices such as notebooks and laptops, the process csrss.exe is closely dependent on power management schemes implemented by the system as defined under the Control Panel option.

dwm.exe

Desktop Window Manager (dwm.exe) is the compositing window manager that gives you all those pretty effects in Windows Vista: Transparent windows, live taskbar thumbnails and even the Flip3D switcher.

What happens in Vista is that applications write the picture of their window to a specific place in memory, and then Windows creates one “composite” view of all the windows on the screen before sending it to your monitor. Because Vista is keeping track of the contents of each window, it can add effects when layering the windows such as the transparency we’re all used to, as well as the live preview thumbnails.

The benefit to using this approach is that Windows Vista can utilize the hardware acceleration features in your video card to create very smooth animations for minimizing and restoring, and even for the transparent effects.

The size of the DWM process is controlled by the number of windows that you have open, since each window requires a buffer in memory to store the contents of the window. If you have a large number of very large windows open, DWM will use more memory.

The benefits of using a compositing window manager are worth that relatively small amount of memory under most circumstances.

The only way to get rid of the dwm.exe process is to stop the service from running. Open up Services from Control Panel or the start menu, and then find the “Desktop Window Manager Session Manager” service in the list, and click the stop button. Note that you will be switched to the Vista Basic theme when you click the button.

BTStackServer.exe and BTtray.exe are essential for your Bluetooth software to function properly.

GrooveMonitor.exe

It is a utility process that is installed as a part of Microsoft Office 2007 (probably the enterprise edition).

Groove Monitor is a tool that can be used to work collaboratively with your colleagues. Documents that come under the Groove Service get synced with other versions in your colleagues’ workspaces.ITS NOT SPYWARE :P.

To get rid of GrooveMonitor,type MSCONFIG in RUN and click on the Startup tab.There,uncheck the GrooveMonitor.

These were some important processes that one should know.

Incase of an infected system,your anti-virus may show an infected file labelled as "TROJAN",it can be any of these system files.

DONT CONFUSE THESE FILES WITH TROJANS,these are just normal files like other files which are infected by a virus.

The easiest way to remove this thing in my view is to follow the following steps.

Backup all the files in My Documents as they will be lost. It's also recommended you backup any other important files you may be concerned about loosing.
Log out of the account that is causing the problem and into a different account. If you do not have another account you can create a new account through the User Accounts icon in the Control Panel.
Once in the other account right-click My Computer icon and click Properties.
In the Properties window click the Advanced tab.
In Advanced click the Settings button under User Profiles.
Finally, in the User Profiles window highlight the name of the profile that is encountering this issue and click the Delete button.
Once the profile has been deleted you can recreate it if you wish to use the same profile name.

Save The Turtles

I recently came across this wonderful organization called GreenPeace
Its a NGO with more than 40 offices spanning all over the world and with its current headquarters at Amsterdam,Netherlands. its goal is to ensure the ability of the Earth to nurture life in all its diversity.
Well it takes up environmental issues and is described as the most visible environmental NGO of the world.
My question is,if they have the concern why not us,even we have to stay on this planet.
Here is the current issue.
18,000 people have already written to Minister Jairam Ramesh asking him to protect India’s coasts. Over 300 ports are proposed across India's coastline, of which over 200 have been notified. Many of these projects are located in and around mangroves, breeding grounds of marine turtles, other vulnerable marine species and habitats.

Inspite of all the opposition against the Dhamra port in Orissa and the threat it poses to the Bitharkanika and Gahirmatha protected areas, and endangered species like the Olive Ridley Turtle, lessons are yet to be learnt. We cannot let Dhamra happen again.

The Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) notification issued in 1991 was meant to safeguard our coasts. Over the years it has been weakened to suit commercial and political interests.

Minister Ramesh needs to add a clause prohibiting construction of new ports and expansion of existing ones near eco-sensitive areas to strengthen the CRZ notification.

So guys what are you waiting for,here is an oppurtunity to reach Mr. Jairam Ramesh,write a letter to him here.

well my third semester end semester examinations are going on,rather they have just started.Well,its the eve of my maths exam and m still left with more than half of the course.Conventionally m not supposed to do what i m doing right now but yeah if i do tht i wont be myself.
So the situation is i hv taken a half an hour break and less than 10 minutes are left.
To begin with my signals paper was good,now its my maths paper,i dont know wht is goin to happen,i just realize tht taking whole number breaks is not a convention either,so m back to studies........ :P :D :) :( :X

New Year Woes For Microsoft

THE ZUNE PROBLEM:

For most of the people this night were enjoying and taking pleasure of the new year eve,some nerds may have been found working with their slogged heads infront of their LCD's!! :P

I am talking about the Microsoft ZUNE team. A Y2K like bug seems to have hit 30GB Zune users all over the world. It seems that the users were quiet frustrated as they reported a huge number of complaints at zune.net.Let us take a look at the issue.

What the problem was???

The 30 GB Zune experienced a Y2K-like mass failure at around 6:00 am on the 31st, where the portable media player goes to the loading screen and freezes permanently. Zune.net's service status today warns: "Customers with 30gb Zune devices may experience issues when booting their Zune hardware. We're aware of the problem and are working to correct it. The Zune Social might be slow or inaccessible. Sorry for the inconvenience, and thanks for your patience."

Microsoft's Zune support forum has been hit with a mass of complaints, but the problem has yet to receive a public diagnosis from the Zune team. Hundreds of users have each reported the identical problem.

The solution..........

This evening, Microsoft posted an official explanation on Zune.net detailing why all 30GB Zunes suddenly froze up this morning.

"The technical team jumped on the problem immediately and isolated the issue: a bug in the internal clock driver related to the way the device handles a leap year. The issue should be resolved over the next 24 hours as the time change moves to January 1, 2009. We expect the internal clock on the Zune 30GB devices will automatically reset tomorrow (noon, GMT). By tomorrow you should allow the battery to fully run out of power before the unit can restart successfully then simply ensure that your device is recharged, then turn it back on. If you're a Zune Pass subscriber, you may need to sync your device with your PC to refresh the rights to the subscription content you have downloaded to your device. "

THE LAYOFFS:

The layoffs, if true, are part of a pattern in the technology industry and certainly not isolated to Microsoft. Just last month, Adobe laid off 8 percent of its workforce (or about 600 people). Rumors have it that Google has let go thousands of contractors (although it's really hard to confirm this story and Google has not been forthcoming about it). So that Microsoft could be laying off 17 percent of its workforce (or about 15,000 people) is hardly a surprise. The economic slow down means people are buying less software, certainly waiting to upgrade and with Microsoft's issues around Vista, it's all coming together at a bad time. (At least Microsoft waited until after the holidays; give them credit for that.)

Well,another big release for Microsoft is round the corner.Yes,Windows 7 may be released by the end of this year(according to CNET) and Microsoft wants to put Vista behind. The last thing everyone would want is another Vista.

Now regarding the HTC Dream.Well its gonna cost you around $180 and it would be sold along with a T-mobile plan.HTC dream has a Qualcomm 528MHz processor,tochscreen interface,GPS,3.1 megapixel camera.The phone shall come along with inbuilt YouTube player,Gmail and much more.

As far as i can predict,i should say that the iPhone's much eatablished market in the US is in danger.

I.S.T - Indian STRETCHED Time

Not more than a week ago my father and me boarded a First Class train(Rajdhani Express) to Udupi(near Mangalore).I had to attend my counselling at Manipal for B.E. admissions.
Needless to say, the Gujjar riots have messed up railways schedules and earnings but to what extent?? i really doidnt knew before this incident.
We boarded the train at around 11:30 in the morning and its normally a 28 odd hour journey from New Delhi to Udupi. One to two hour delay is normal in India(sort of a birthright).
It means we should have reached Udupi at around 3:30 in the evening the next day.
k.......
zzzzzzzz.....
Delhi to Mathura, the train reached in a record time of one and a half hours.....good nice going!!!
It regained it original speed, then formed a decreasing arithemetic progression and litrellay ran at a speed of about 15 to 20 kmph for about 3 hours.
Then came Agra. It had a stay of about 15 minutes over there after which we got to know the train is going via Bhopal which is not its normal route!!!!
It had to go via Kota.Now an extra 6 hours delay has added to the mess.
And it wasnt enough.
Since the train wasnt going on its normal route it didnt get time to time clearence and as a result of which it could gain its top speed.
And at what time did i reach!!!!
3:3o in the morning the next day!!!!
A massive 12 hour delay!!!!
Man, hats off to Indian railways for producing India's fastest train,Rajdhani Express.

IBM fills chips with water

IBM's not having enough of processor cooling technology or wat????
Or, people at IBM's Zurich Lab have gone crazy enough to try this crap!!!!!

So far IBM's record of processor cooling has been excellant.Two years ago IBM announced a breakthrough with carving channels into chips to let thermal paste sink down nearer the silicon.Then the very last year IBM Zurich had cut more channels into cooling unit.Now, IBM looks to pump water between stacks of processors and other common motherboard components to keep them cool.

The chip industry has become rather enamored with the idea of 3-D stacking where processors and memory, among other things, sit right on top of each other instead of near each other on a motherboard. This should help increase the speed at which data flows between the various components by opening up many more communications paths. By shrinking wires to about 1/1000th of their usual size, chip makers can also help reduce the energy consumption of their products.
But but......removing heat from the preocessor has been a major issue!!!!

To deal with the heat, IBM has discovered a way to pipe water into cooling tunnels that are about as thin as a human hair and that sit in between die layers of a processor.However this technology will be still be years away from production.

What to say about this opening pair?

People i am talking about the greatest One Day International opening pair that the world has ever witnessed-Sourav Ganguly and Sachin Tendulkar. They have prodeuced about 26 century stands so far-a world record!!! What i like about this pair is the way they understand each others' games. In the past two years India has tried out many opening pair and even Irfan Pathan sometimes!!! Nothing had worked for the team ever since they had dropped Sourav Ganguly last year.

Talking about that topic it wont be fair if we render light to that man who was probably behind that-Greg Chappell.Tell me one way in which he behaved as a coach!!!! He almost destroyed a prospering career. Every sportsman has highs and lows in his career.Sachin too has(if one remember the days when he was the captain).Sourav Ganguly is no exception. How can one forget that he's the strongest left hander who plays mostly of off sde and the those passionate cuts and glorious cover drives!!!! What more to say................he's the most successful captain India has ever had after the legendary Kapil Dev.

See, what conspiracy can do to an able sportsman!!!

Talking about Sachin Tendulkar, he has his own style, he's very different from other players. Such cricketers are one in millions!!! And I am serious!! Almost every record in ODI's is under his belt and his reign spells over Test cricket too. I am preparing for my engineering entrances which are going to be held between April and June next year. So i have about 8 to 10 months in hand. But last minute studies dont help here.In India,there is much competiton in this line so in order to be at thetop you have to behave like the top!!!

I have this test series on monday, teachers say its gonna be breath taking tough.
Have to face that, will face that!!! Now, thats the spirit.

Well i am getting excited regarding , dunno why??

This is not just my confidence but whole of India's confidence in the Indian cricket team. The mighty Indians beat South Africa in their Super Eight clash by a nice margin. Indians had set a moderate target of 164 in theor 20 overs and it looked as thoygh it was thelast match of the dream run for Indian chokras. But yet again this time RP Singh bowled an excellant spell bagging 4 wickets and showed the way to dugout to the likes of Herchelle Gibbs,Graeme Smith.........

So, the big news is that Indians have qualified for the Semi Finals and this time they have a real challenge 'coz they'll face Australians but the good news is that Ricky Ponting and Shane Watson are not playing for Australia and Yuvi bhai is back in the Indian line up.

Meanwhile Pakistan also advanced to the semi finals by beating Lankan tigers, Bangladesh and guess what,Australia, just cudnt believe that!!!!

Anyways best of luck to both the teams and hope that we could see a long awaited India-Pakistan Final.

WHAT A MATCH IT WAS!!

Well guys, we all know that the Twenty20 Cricket World Cup is going on in South Africa. We also know that this format of the game is a nightmare even for a world class bowler like Nathan Brancken,Lee and co.

Yesterday the tournament witnessed the best match ever played in any format of the game and why not, it was played amongst the best arch rivals of the cricketing history.People, it was India vs Pakistan!!!!

The match took place at Durban. It was a second match for the Paks as they thrashed the Scots in their first match while it was the first for the young Indian team as rain had washed away their first match against Scotland.

Pakistan won the toss and skipper Shoaib Malik elected to field looking to the conditions that favoured side bowling first. It eventually turned out to be very good toss won for the Paks and why not??

The guy was Mohammad Asif who single handedly bowled out the Indian top order comprising Sehwag,Gambhir,Karthik,Yuvraj. He bowled an excellant spell of 4-0-19-4,man!! Probably the best bowling figures i have seen so far in the tournament!!!

The stage was set for Robin Utthappa and didnt he repond to it well!!!! A thundering 50 of just 39 deliveries under such harsh conditions for the batsmen!!!

So, at the end of the Indian innings, there was a moderate score of 141 on the board. If, the Paks would have chased this target in 14.4 overs,India would have been eliminted.

Now, Pakistan's innings started and our desi boy R.P. Singh did the proceeding for the Indian bowling. He was bowling well and was making the ball to swing which was a right tactic. Indian frontline bowlers including R.P,Sreesanth,Agarkar and Irfan Pathan-The comeback boy, blew off Pakistan top order and 4 wickets had fallen at the end of ten overs with just a meagre score on board. At the ebd of the 15th over, Afridi got on to the crease and the crowd really expected some big hits from this Karachi explosive but he failed to deliver 'coz he was facing the 'Turbanator' apna Bhajji who was making a comeback aftera long time and what a comeback it was. After Afridi's wicket Paks hopes were shattered and itseemed as if India could maintain its record of not losing to Pakistan in major World Cup competition. Then Yasser Arafat came to bat, and his team needed about 45 odd runs of 26 deliveries. He thrashed Bhajji last two balls to a six and a four. Agarkar was the next target and Arafat thrashed him as well and his over costed 19 expensive runs.

The grand finale, the final over people..............Sreesanth had the bowl in his hands and Pakistan needed 12 of just 6 balls and they were well aware of the fact that India has not lost a major World Cup match against Pakistan ever. Misbah ul Haq took a single of the first ball and gave strike to Arafat who sent the next ball to the fence for a four.He took a single of the third ball and strike to Misbah who again sent the ball back to ropes. Now Pakistan needed just 1 run off 2 balls. It seemed as is India has lost the match. Sreesanth bowled the next ball for a dot ball giving hopes to a tense Indian dugout. Now the last ball, Sreesanth bowled a short pitched delivery and taking no chances Misbah played a backward defence , but to the best Indian fielder Yuvraj and misbah was run out. So the match was not over as yet!!!!

In case of a tie,we would now have a bowl out analogous to a Penalty shootout in football.Each team would have to nominate 5 bowlers and the team that hits the stumps the maximum times would win the match. India hit the first three bang on target while the Paks didnt!!!! Man just just cudnt believe that Shahid Afridi had missed the target!!! Well it was India day in the end and it bagged those vital three points.

Saying it in my style,

'Its been a bad, badder and baddest start for Manchester United at the Premiership ths season.'

To start with they drew their first two matches and imagine one of them was 'Reading'. Man!!!!

And the most shocking result this weekis that they lost to Manchester City 1-0.

So,the happiest person this week would be no doubt Sven Goran Eriksson as his boys did a wonderful job.

According to me there wasnt much coordination among the forward line of United,there wasnt barely any signs of communication between Tevez and Ronaldo,although made a nice impact during the game.

I dont wish to write much 'coz its not a very good ocassion to write on!!!!!!

I feel very dissappointed.

continues to throng indian batsmen in NPower Test series.This time it was the oval where India's record has been considerably well,the umpires dont seem to want this though.This time the vitim of bad umpiring was yet again Sourav Ganguly and the newly found opening talent Dinesh Karthik who missed out his maiden century that could have made him a star.The most controversial decision is that given through LBW and you may have noticed that Dada's both controversial decsions were LBW's.The umpires have been given the liberty to give LBW decisions through HAWK EYE,then why the hell they dont use the bloody technology,poor Dada, whenever he gets in magnificant form he's bashed my poor decisions and my full sympathy is with him coz even the hawk eye ruled out the LBW decison given yesterday.

Now talking about Karthik,BOY!! he can become the India's Ricky Ponting,an excellant fielder and magnificant with the blessing of superb timing of the cricket ball. He got out on 91 but he did make an impact as was clearly visible fromt the standing ovasion he got from the crowd.

Delhi Metro reaches Kaushambi

Well, atlast the Delhi Metro work has started in my locality Kaushambi, just saw the banners saying aloud 'DELHI METRO',was quite pleased 'coz the Metro work had to be started much before, around two years back.

The residents here have just this banner of staying in Ghaziabad but approximately everybody goes to Delhi everyday,travelling almost 200 kms daily(buzz! for a round trip)

The Kaushambi Metro Station will be situated in front of Wave Multiplex(or 'East End Mall' as it is called) as one of the Metro workman told me when i asked him.

That place is very nearby my place so m quite happy,even though it wont be of much use to me.Maybe i ll go for my undergrad studies outside Delhi. Or, even if it wud be in Delhi, by the time the Metro work shall be completed i ll get passed out.

<But still i am happy.>

Recently i gave my dce entrance and wanted wanted to file rechecking.

So i went to dce with arpeit(a friend)..............which is approx 65 kms from my place and thanks to Delhi Metro that i reached in about one and a half hours......................

Now i heard what i had never heard before and nobody would love to hear that.

DCE people gave us a form and said "GET IT SIGNED FROM DELHI UNIVERSITY" and DU is about 20 kms from that place and again thanks to the Delhi Metro i reached DU in 45 minutes.Got that form signed but it was late to go back to DCE to submit the form.

Now the next morning, i called artpeit and we left home in horrible rain for dce ..................we reached welcome metro station through DTC bus route no. 221 and by the time we reached the station we were fully wet!! ZEUS!!

Then took Metro coupon for Rohini West and reached that by 30 minutes and then took DTC bus route no. 879(srry that ws i private bus :P) and finally reached DCE and submitted the form.

Now the biggest disaster,the official said"TILL NOW THERE HASNT BEEN A CASE OF ANY DISCREPENCY IN DCE RESULTS"

We were disheartened as obviously!!!!

Anyways thanks to DELHI METRO of all the things!!!!!

'Astronauts Need More Time To Fix Shuttle's Thermal Blanket, Which Was Damaged During Launch'

Space shuttle Atlantis' astronauts will spend two extra days in space to fix a thermal blanket near the shuttle's tail that peeled back during its launch. Experts don't believe the gap would pose any threat to the astronauts, but it could allow damage to the shuttle during its re-entry into the atmosphere. So NASA managers decided Monday to extend Atlantis' Mission to the international space station from 11 to 13 days. According to a recent news, engineers at the Johnson Space Center at Houston have already started practising techniques the astronauts might use to make the repair.The thermal blankets are used to protect the shuttle from searing heat during re-entry into Earth's atmosphere. Engineers didn't think the intense heat generated by re-entry could burn through the graphite structure underneath it, but they worried it might cause some damage that would require repairs on the ground.

With three additional shuttle flights to the space station planned this year, NASA can't afford delays.

The repair to the thermal blanket, covering a 4-by-6-inch area over a pod for engines, likely will involve an astronaut attached to the end of the shuttle's robotic arm and boom reaching the shuttle's tail area. No decision has been made on whether it will be made during a previously planned third spacewalk or if a fourth, extra spacewalk will be added.

WINDOWS VISTA-First Impressons

I've been using Windows Vista on one of my computers for the past month. Rather than write about the experience before Ive had the chance to fully try it out, I instead ran it through the paces. I used it almost exclusively for one month. So what did I think?Not bad. Its definitely a different experience, although not too different. Its not a very far leap from Windows XP.
One thing that I was happy about, is that for once it seems that Microsoft has released a product that is stable from day one. I have been using Vista for over a month, and I have yet to see it crash. Compared to my Windows XP system which crashes at least once a month.The most evident changes is the User Interface, its quite a bit different than the XP version. With the very tight integration with Internet Explorer 7, it seems that Vista is more capable than ever at multi-tasking. The gadgets are really cool too, and I cant wait to see what new and interesting gadgets are developed for Vista in the near future. You just have to get your hands on it, to see the difference, words cant really adequately describe it.
What I found surprising is the voice recognition capabilities of Vista. I hadnt expected that it would be so robust. It takes a little bit of getting used to, but you can effortlessly blend normal computer operation with voice control. Its not perfect, dont get me wrong, but it is a novel way to interact with the computer and has tons of potential.
The problem is hardware requirements. Vista is a beast when it comes to hardware. The more you got the better it performs. I find that Vista loves memory, and a fast video card is essential as well. I wouldnt bother with Vista unless I had a computer that was made in the last year or so that had at least 1GB of memory. I played with it, when I took most of my memory out, and left 256MB in the machine, and it almost ground to a halt.All in all, I found Vista to be quite capable. A very nice upgrade from XP, surprisingly stable. I probably wouldnt upgrade an existing computer, but would feel fine with purchasing a new computer with XP already installed. Good luck, and enjoy Vista.

Bollywood is in a tizzy. First, it was the threats, the killings, the near-misses. Then came the uncovering of the extortion bids. Followed by revelations of the nexus between organised crime and showbiz. The response was, typically, outrage. And an increase in security cover for most of the top stars and movie makers. But now, with the Bombay police accusing famous music director Nadeem Saifi of masterminding the murder of Gulshan Kumar, its cup of woes is overflowing.
Fear, confusion, anguish, anger; no one quite knows what is happening. Including Nadeem himself, still in London, desperately seeking legal aid to cope with the charge against him. Of murder. Nothing less.

I read his interview at Rediff and it was clearly visible that this guy is really pissed off!

Indian Mafia-The Bhai Power

What is referred to as the Indian Mafia currently, had its beginnings during the turn of last century with the influx of migrants to Bombay, who came from all over India looking for jobs in the bustling port city. Most of them found accommodation in colonies of block-like buildings called chawls which allowed them to nurture strong ties within their community with each community sticking together and forming their own quarter in the city. From these, mostly hardworking lower strata of urban life, arouse an underbelly of criminal elements who quickly became an organised body. The first mafia elements, or syndicates, perhaps had their origins in the gambling and bootleg liquor dens set up by the infamous Pashtun Mafia member Karim Lala in the 1940s, who is arguably the first real Don in the history of the Indian Mafia. The profits from the control of bootlegging and gambling, aided by the introduction of prohibition and anti-gambling laws, made the new syndicate exceptionally wealthy, it enabled Karim Lala to acquire some legitimacy by floating the Jriga-e Hind Pathan Party, which he claimed had the blessings of the famous Pashtun freedom fighter Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan . He was in-turn succeeded by another migrant named Varadaraja Mudaliar , a Tamil migrant who arrived to Bombay along with a large influx of south-Indian migrants during the first half of the century. By using his community ties, he oversaw the rise of a new generation of underworld until the 1960s. Mudaliar pioneered the art of cultivating official patronage for the underworld. The increasing restrictions placed on the Indian economy by the socialist regimes of those days gave the Bombay underworld increasingly more means by which they could expand their activities. Their influence on the city slowly increased with time. A colleague of his, who was placed in jail during the Indian Emergency (1975-79), Mastan Mirza, more famously known as Haji Mastan also played a key role in structuring illegal gambling as an organised business. The first three dons were unique in that they had high standings within their own communities whose interest they looked after, each depending on their community for men and support as is the case with most Mafias.

After the collapse of the cotton mills based textile industry in Mumbai in the 1980s, many workers were left unemployed, furthering the environment for crime that already existed. Various underworld dons rose to power.

D-Company was formed by Dawood Ibrahim , an acolyte of Hajji Mastana, and a descendant of migrants from the Konkan coast. It was amongst the most powerful criminal organisations in the world in the 80s, with many illegal and legal business ventures under Dawood's control. His group eventually split up sometime during the mid-nineties due to his use of communal violence for personal gain. Where his mafia had previously been secular, it now broke up on communal lines. Soon after the Bombay riots , a series of blasts that took place in Bombay in 1993 and changed Bombay underworld completely, he was accused, both by former colleagues and the police, for orchestrating the blasts. It is thought that in an attempt to gain political support from religious radicals that would legitimise him as more than a crook, he collaborated with various terrorist organisations. This led to the fragmentation of his criminal empire when ,Chotta Rajan his lieutenant, broke away and gained support of powerful right-wing Hindu Nationalist politicians. Soon after the bombings he was forced to flee the city (now renamed Mumbai) and the country. Dawood Ibrahim reportedly now lives in Karachi or Dubai, and controls what is left of D-Company from there. The last known public contact with him was when a Times reporter once interviewed Dawood in Karachi.

The Indian Mafia in the meantime has spread to other parts of India and has diversified onto various activities. In Mumbai, with the adoption of new police policies, crime has been going down in Mumbai and the mafia has been forced to flee the city to safer heavens. Many of its crime bosses operate from different parts of the world, controlling the Mafia within India.

Now the newest mafia threat arises from the Northern regions of Eastern U.P. and the state of Bihar, which for the most part of the last five years has seen a power struggle between various groups of gangsters representing different interests and communities.

Finest Hindi Movie i have ever seen!!

Well the movie is Shootout at Lokhandwala(wasnt a suspense really! :P he he)

This was yet another hindi movie i liked(after Mother India, Aashiqui and Sarkar) and frankly speaking, this high budget movie has really impressed me.

This movie is based on an encounter done by the Mumbai police (smtime aroundin 1991) at the Lokhandwala complex in Mumbai. The crew was lead by case incharge A.A. Khan(Sanjay Dutt).

He (sanjay) beautifully portrayed this character......nothing he cud do b8r.

There were 5 gangsters hiding in a flat in Lokhandwala complex. One of 'em was Maya(Vivek Oberoi) .........MAN!! He scared me throughout the movie.

The movie is reli gud .....must see!!!!!

This is a sort of a smartphone and sort of of a laptop — but doesn't really have the functionality of either. This is FOLEO.

I got to see this product in a daily magazine about a week back and was really amazed to read its fuctions.

Well the makers PALM have done wonders in the recent past but this one is spectactular.The Foleo is the size and shape of a very slim notebook computer with a 10-inch screen and full-sized keyboard. It is Linux-based with applications including e-mail and the Opera web browser. It also has programs to view or edit Word, Excel, PowerPoint documents and a Palm-developed PDF viewer. Data on the Foleo and its paired smartphone are synchronized via bluetooth throughout the day or with a button push. The device can use the smartphone's radio or the Foleo's built in WiFi receiver to connect to the internet.

Foleo has a USB port, video-out port, headphone jack, and slots for SD and compact flash cards for memory expansion. It's all solid-state, with no hard disk. This allows for instant on/off with no load time or sleep mode.

I wonder when i wud actually get mah hands on it.

Recently my engineering entrances got over.
They were a mess. Shayad I didnt prepare that hard.
I didnt give 'em anything.......so they digged me. :P

M planning to drop.........giving another set of entrances....for preparatory institutes :P

advice for 10th passed:-take the coming 2 years seriously
